Happy Birthday Anupaya!
Five years ago, we said yes to a wild idea and had absolutely no idea what we were walking into.
No plan. No roadmap. Just a feeling, that we wanted to create the kind of place we wished existed. Quiet mornings. Campfires that went too late. Long conversations. Somewhere you could actually rest.
What followed was… a lot. Leaky roofs. Septic disasters. Flooding. Broken docks. Endless laundry. Moments where we looked at each other and genuinely wondered if we were completely, utterly crazy. LOTS of tears.
But then the people came.
Thousands of guests. Families who return every single year. Proposals. Weddings. Babies who first arrived in car seats and now run down the beach on their own. Friendships that started right here, on this little stretch of shoreline.
We never expected that part. We really didn't.
The land kept teaching us too, the gardens, the chickens, the goats, the floods. Nature has a way of reminding you that it doesn't care about your timeline. We're still learning that lesson. Probably always will be.
And we're still just getting started. New cabins are coming. A thermal spa. The gardens are growing in. The bees are settling. And through all of it, we're holding onto the one thing that matters most, that quiet feeling people come here for.
To every guest who trusted us, recommended us, celebrated here, or simply showed up needing rest, thank you. What began as a business became something far more meaningful than we ever imagined.
Here's to five more wild, beautiful, chaotic, grateful years.
With so much love from Deep River,
Shan & Pete
